JDS Recruitment are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Care Worker to join our team at a Residential School, an exceptional Special Educational Needs SEN school with an attached residential setting. This is a permanent position, providing a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the students in our care.
Shift Patterns – 37 Hours Per Week, Monday – Friday Term Time only on a rotating shift pattern (below), including sleep-in duties (additional allowance paid).
Week 1 Mon – 13: 30-22:00 Tues – 06:30-14:30 Wed – 13:30-22:00 Thur- 06:30-14:30 Fri – 06:30-12:30
Week 2 Mon – 13:30-22:00 Tues – 13:30-22:00 Wed – 06:30-14:30 Thurs – 13:30-22:00
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personalized care and support to students with special educational needs in a residential setting.
- Foster a positive and nurturing environment that promotes the physical, emotional, and social well-being of each resident.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, and other care professionals, to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
- Implement and adhere to care plans, recognizing and responding to the unique needs and abilities of each student.
- Facilitate and participate in recreational and educational activities to enhance the students’ overall experience.
- To work with individual pupils or small groups of pupils in a variety of activities both on and off site.
- To provide appropriate support to pupils with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties, autistic
- spectrum disorders, behavioural, communication, social, sensory and/or physical difficulties in a therapeutic manner.
- To understand specific learning needs and styles and to provide differentiated support to pupils individually and within a group.
- To establish positive relationships with pupils and parents.
- To participate in home visits where required with another member of Senior Staff.
- To attend to pupils’ personal needs including help with social, welfare, care and health matters, including toileting, dressing, feeding (orally or through a tube), mobility etc.
- To carry out specific additional care tasks for individual pupils at the direction of a qualified member of staff and once full training has been given.
- Support students in developing essential life skills and independence.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience in residential care or a related field is desirable.
- NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification is preferred.
- An understanding of Special Educational Needs and a genuine passion for supporting individuals with diverse needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends on a rotational basis.
